Book Club Pick

December’s selection is the “Daring Ladies of Lowell” by Kate Alcott, a novel of historical fiction based on the life of mill workers in 1800s Lowell, Massachusetts. This fun read introduces us to the lives of the “mill girls” as they were called.

Whether you read the book or not, the story of Lowell continues to be told by the National Park Service site, Lowell National Historical Park. Watch these videos, to learn about the typical morning routine for a factory worker in the city of Lowell, MA (3 min) and the story of Lowell, MA (19 min).
